Harris Carter

Harris grew up around antique furniture and wood and loved to repair and restore it for personal use. After Hurricane Hugo blew through Charleston, he took his knowledge and know-how and began to repair his own damaged furniture the storm left in its path.

Harris Carter started Chehaw River Woodworks in 1991 in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and eventually opened up the Lake City, SC, location.

Originally intended to handle marine repairs, the Lake City, SC location became a location for the midlands and upstate part of South Carolina to have their furniture repaired, restored, and renewed.

He’s always loved to fish, play in the water and play with boats.
