This beautiful grandfather tall case clock endured a house fire after more than 200 years keeping time prior to the disaster. Scorched, broken and water logged many would call it a loss. In the skilled hands of the artisans at Chehaw, restoration was possible.
After gathering the many pieces or veneer and wood fragments, the process of assembling the puzzle begins. New pieces and inlay are fashioned and traditional hide glue fastening methods used. After many hours of repair the clock is ready to refinish. A hand rubbed french polish technique is used in keeping with the clock’s age. Today this handsome early American artifact once again shines and stands tall. View the finished clock.
